Algonquin Canoe Trip, June 2003
June 9th, 2003
Chris and Rob take off once more into the interior of Algonquin, this time headed on a more remote route. While we had learned a lot from the previous trip and were well prepared this time around, the weather again decided not to cooperate for most of the week. By day five we'd had enough rain and combined days five and six into one long afternoon which included the infamous Dickson-Bonfield portage (5.3 kilometres in 83 minutes!) and the long paddle home across Opeongo.
The trip was well worth the effort though, with sightings of numerous moose, ducks, geese, herons, a white-tailed deer, giant 340 year-old red pine, and the best campsite I've ever stayed on (on Dickson Lake).
The pictures are taken with my Nikon LiteTouch 120ED point-and-shoot film camera and some cheap 400ASA film, then scanned with an older HP ScanJet IIcx. This model cannot scan negatives, I had to scan the prints, so these aren't the best quality.
