Campsite, Burnt Island Lake

After literally dragging our way down the shallow creek connecting Little Joe and Baby Joe Lake, we got our first taste of good weather. The water was dead calm and the evening sun nearly came out as we raced across Baby Joe in a matter of minutes. We portaged to the southern tip of Burnt Island Lake and stopped at a choice island campsite for our first night.

We were pretty tired from the paddle (which, looking back now, wasn't really very long), but eventually got a fire going and stuffed ourselves with chili and Guyléne's homemade mac and cheese. The rest of the evening was spent talking and telling stories around the fire, a fine ending to a day that began so questionably.
