Switchfoot & Turn Off The Stars [2]
December 4th, 2003
When one of Sony's newest bands "Switchfoot" was coming to the El Mocombo and nobody could make it to take pictures, I volunteered for the job. I figured it'd be a lot of fun to try photographing a live band, and since they play Christian rock, that it wouldn't be all that difficult, physically, to hold some ground at the front of the stage. Well, I was wrong, about the second part anyway - those Christians know how to rock! It was a lot of fun though, and I look forward to trying again.
This is my first effort at photographing a band in concert. Unfortunately I didn't have a good low light lens at the time and had to use flash, and even using ISO 1600, most of the pictures came out blurry. Interestingly though, the grain and motion blur adds a cool effect to many of them, they look kind of "rock and roll" if you know what I mean - maybe better than if they were sharp!
