One year down

Happy one-year anniversary to me! It was around this time last November that I purchased my Canon Digital Rebel DSLR camera. I can't believe it's been a whole year already, but looking through my galleries, I'm very happy that I decided to go for it, and my interest in photography has grown so much that I would seriously consider becoming a professional, if only I had the skills and financial freedom to do it.

On the homefront, I now have a(nother) new roommate, a "Six Feet Under"-aholic from the 'burbs named Angela. So if you call or drop by my place and a woman answers, don't be afraid that my apartment was annexed by space invaders posing as smart, witty female humanoids... have a chat and welcome her to the neighborhood.

My HTPC is nearly complete, just awaiting the arrival of the Sapphire Radeon 9600 video card (my old GeForce 2 MX400 is holding ship right now). I'm using Beyond TV and a Hauppage! PVR-250 for PVR duties. Some preliminary specs and photos are here, with a write-up to come soon.

New gallery: a lunch-hour spent walking around Ernest Thompson Seton Park in late October.

A few new albums:

The Raveonettes - Whip It On
Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs (2 disc set)
Travis - 12 Memories

Update: my department didn't win the ADISQ award for site internet de l'année. We lost out to some crummy kids site at shilvi.com for "Disque Petite Plume". Boooo. They probably figured that Céline Dion has won enough awards already.

Snow! Driving to work this morning, I saw vehicles with a good bunch of snow on top. According to sources at work who commute from the boonies (aka, Pickering), there was a strange outbreak of snow even though the sky was mostly clear and sunny. Go figure.

Enough for now.

  • Backseat Becky: Hiya Rob. I was thinkin' as I came across your wonderful site (googled pinciuc outta curiousity yesterday and got this... long story... ) that us CCH geeks gotta stick together. Up for a little reunion sometime? Or have you ran (arms and legs flailing ever so frantically) so far in another direction that you'd like to stay comfortably where you are? I'm glad you're well and that you have hobbies. This is good. You really do have a marvelous site and I'm sitting here stunned that it may just be true that I haven't seen or really talked to you for maybe 10 years! Yowsah!

Sorry this is long. Take care!
