Boredom strikes (my pocketbook)

Alright already, here it is, finally. I know, it’s been a couple weeks, I’m a shmuck, what can I say? To be honest, there hasn’t been a whole lot happening and I haven’t had any real inspirational moments or anything. Halloween has come and gone, and by the way things are shaping up outside, so has Autumn. It’s cold out!

News on the home front… Sony Music and BMG have announced that they’ve signed a letter of intent to merge businesses. This is big news in the troubled times of the record industry, since regulators were hesitant in the past to approve a merger, but with sales down 25% from three years ago, it looks like it could happen this time. What does this mean to me? Not too much in the short term, I don’t think, since there are approvals and decisions to be made, but down the road when all’s been said and done, who knows? Maybe I’ll be working on the next Sloan website, that’d be alright. Maybe I won’t be working at all (not cool).

So I was really bored last weekend and when I get bored I always seem to end up spending some money. Well what do you know, when before my very eyes appeared a new Canon EOS Digital Rebel! This camera is, for the first time, putting digital SLRs into the hands of photography enthusiasts and “prosumers” who can’t afford the higher priced professional models (which start around $2,200). I’ve been reading and learning about lenses, apertures, shutter speeds and focal lengths, and am really excited about trying some creative photography. So far I’ve only experimented around my apartment, but if today’s beautiful weather holds out maybe I’ll take some pics around the neighborhood to post in the photos section, so stay tuned.

Going to see Belle & Sebastian on Saturday at Massey Hall, will let you know how it goes. Picked up the new CD called “Dear Catastrophe Waitress”, which is produced by Trevor Horn, who also produced t.A.T.u.. That’s a little scary in itself, but after a few spins I can claim that the album is quite good. Aside from being a little more upbeat and happy than previous efforts, the album, thankfully, sounds nothing like t.A.T.u.

That’s all for now, more soon.
