Spring/Summer Travelling Begins

Last weekend saw the first canoe trip of the year. Brandon and I went on a three-day trip to Killarney Provincial Park as part of a group from the Wilderness Adventurers of Ontario outdoors club. Kristin was supposed to come on the trip but injured her ribs the week before and unfortunately couldn't make it.

We'd planned a day-hike to Silver Peak, the third highest point in Ontario, but unfortunately the gale-force winds and hail kept us from making the trek. The paddles in and out of the park were enjoyable, though, with clear-ish skies and no precipitation.

I've uploaded a gallery of my photos from the trip, and there are links to some of the other members' galleries as well.

Now that the first trip is over I'm more excited about the coming of Spring and Summer. Some upcoming trips include:

- June: Whitewater canoe training weekend at Palmer Rapids (finally, whitewater!)
- June: Sea Kayaking on Lake Opeongo
- July: Whitewater canoe trip
- July: Kristin and I are meeting up with Ron and Cindy for two weeks in Newfoundland!

I'm very excited about all of the trips, but obviously the trip to Newfoundland is what I'm really waiting for. Our plans so far include hiking the East Coast Trail, kayaking past icebergs at Terra Nova National Park, and of course, camping and hiking in the breathtaking Gros Morne National Park. We'll also be spending time in the cities of St. John's and Cornerbrook.
